Performance management processes have gained prominence in recent years as a means of providing a more integrated and continuous approach to managing performance compared to previous isolated and often inadequate merit rating or performance appraisal schemes. Performance management can play a major role in delivering an integrated and coherent range of human resource management processes that are mutually supportive and collectively contribute to improving organizational effectiveness. The goal of this course is to equip students with adequate knowledge of performance management and to establish the extent to which performance relates to reward.
